Improve Your Quality of Life

What does "quality of life" mean to you?

Everyone's quality of life is different. Whether it is a walk on your favorite beach, playing with your children or grandchildren, the ability to swim, ride a bike, play golf or even travel the world, all these activities are dependent on one thing - your ability to walk or stand with ease.

Did You Know?

There are 3,000 - 7,500 knee and/or hip replacement surgeries every week in the United States alone?

Anyone who undergoes one of these surgeries will likely use some type of brace while their leg is healing - but what about AFTER the healing? The natural first step is to attend physical therapy sessions to help become reacquainted with straightening and bending your leg. While this is important, what about when you are home resting your knee or hip because it's sore, swollen, and aching from the day's activities? You need extra help while you're sitting down and resting since this is where most people hurt themselves.

As you are sitting, your leg feels better when it is turned outward as opposed to straight. When you stand up, your leg remains in the turned-out position since it is most comfortable and used to it being that way. Due to this unintentional new habit, your leg learns to be turned out, even when you are walking, which then causes limping and ultimately causes your good leg to develop pain as time passes. This chain of events could result in needing another knee or hip replacement in the once good leg. The end result: relying on a cane or walker for stability when standing or walking.
